Start the game with the basic curve, upgrading your Tavern on turn two and then on turn five (seven Gold). Note that the Murloc that is added to your hand by the Hero Power is from the same Tavern Tier or lower than your current Tavern tier.īecause powerful Murlocs start to appear on tier three, you want to get your Tavern to tier three before you really start to work on getting more Murlocs. After you sell four minions, you get a random Murloc, so forcing Murlocs is quite easy for the Hero. The key to success with Flurgl is, unsurprisingly, Murlocs. Getting to a higher Tavern tier is generally useful to be able to steal more minions that are of higher quality. You will have many opportunities to use your Hero Power later in the game as well. Then, you are able to use your Hero Power on turn four (six Gold) to grab all the offered minions at once.

Buy a minion on turn one, upgrade your Tavern on turn two, and sell your minion to upgrade your Tavern again on turn three. Heistbaron Togwaggle uses a special leveling curve: you want to level up to tier three on turn three. The Hero Power costs nine Gold, but it becomes one Gold cheaper each turn until you use it, at which point it resets back to nine Gold. Heistbaron Togwaggle’s Hero Power takes all minions from Bob’s Tavern in a single sweep. This directly buffed Ysera and made it the best Hero in the game. Ysera’s Hero Power does not guarantee high-tier Dragons, but it increases your odds of finding good dragons and finding triples, so you should force Dragons when playing as Ysera. With the addition of Nether Drake to Tier two and Amber Guardian to Tier three alongside Tarecgosa, Dragons are now a stronger tribe than they have ever been early in the game. Therefore, on a Tier one Tavern, your additional minion is always either an Evolving Chromawing or a Red Whelp, Tier two adds Glyph Guardian and Nether Drake, and so on. Ysera’s Hero Power passively adds an additional Dragon minion from the tiers that are available to you to your Tavern every time it is refreshed. You can generally aim to win the lobby with them and should find yourself in the top 4 most of the time. We’ve categorized Heroes into four tiers. That said, this tier list guide can help you choose your Hero based on how useful various Hero Powers are in general. If you’re having fun with a specific Hero, don’t worry about its tier. Nonetheless, it is possible to win games even on leaderboard ranks with any Hero. Some Heroes are stronger than others, even significantly so. The Battlegrounds Season Pass is currently available only for real money through Runestones. The number of Heroes you can choose from goes up to four if you purchase the Battlegrounds Season Pass that unlocks additional Hero picks and cosmetics. No two players will ever share the same Hero – no one will be offered duplicates. When you start a match, you get two Hero choices and pick one. However, sometimes the right strategy is to ignore your Hero Power altogether and go with strong minions that are offered to you: use your Hero Power to your advantage when you can, but also be ready to choose a different route when you are not offered minions that have synergy with your Hero Power. Some of the Heroes are stronger in the early game, whereas some have good late-game scaling, so you can adapt your strategy to the Hero you’ve picked. While they do not affect the minions offered in the Tavern, each Hero comes with a different Hero Power – a special ability that is either completely passive or an active ability that you can use in the Tavern (between combat phases). Players currently have access to 86 Heroes: the pool changes from time to time with some Heroes being changed, new Heroes being added, and some of the old ones being removed in balance patches.

It doesn’t play like most “Auto Chess” games, and it still feels a lot like Hearthstone, but that might be an advantage! The general idea behind it was to take the popular Auto Battler genre and translate it into Hearthstone.

You could even say that it’s a new game built into Hearthstone. Battlegrounds is a different game mode in Hearthstone that completely changes the way you play the game.
